Social Seating Structure

Ply-wood, foam, scaffolding, metal fixings

Arc-Bench is a modular public seating structure that explores the interdependent relationships between people, objects, and space. Composed of individual plywood components, it assembles into a unified sculptural form—both functional and expressive.

Rooted in the architectural language of London’s urban fabric—its density, infrastructures, and spatial rhythms—the design transforms rigid materials into a fluid, responsive structure. Each segment plays a role in a system that can be reconfigured into multiple seating orientations, inviting users to engage communally, socially, or individually.

Fully modular and easily disassembled, Arc-Bench can be rearranged into a variety of layouts and scales, adapting to diverse environments and public settings. It functions not only as a place to rest, but as a piece of adaptive social infrastructure—encouraging interaction, autonomy, and new ways of experiencing public space.
