PAD with 88 Gallery London
PAD London (Pavilion of Art and Design) is an internationally renowned fair celebrating the finest in collectible design, contemporary craft, and decorative arts. Bringing together leading galleries and collectors from around the world, it serves as a key platform for innovation, craftsmanship, and cultural exchange.
Jacob Walls Studio was featured by 88 Gallery London at PAD London 2025 as part of the gallery's curated presentation, Emergence. The exhibition explored the moments of transformation that occur throughout the creative process, celebrating the tension between control and unpredictability that gives an object its unique character and presence.
Presented within this context, Pangolin embodied the studio's ongoing exploration of material innovation, tactile experience, and sculptural form. Constructed from reclaimed foam over a welded metal framework and finished with thermochromic pigment, the piece responds to touch and environmental change, creating a surface that continually evolves through interaction. The work draws inspiration from the protective armour and organic geometry of its namesake, transforming functional seating into a dynamic sculptural object.
Exhibiting at PAD London alongside leading international galleries and designers marked an important milestone for the studio, positioning Pangolin within a global dialogue on contemporary collectible design. The presentation reflected Jacob Walls Studio's commitment to experimentation, sustainability, and craftsmanship, demonstrating how innovative materials and processes can be used to create objects that are both functional and emotionally engaging.
